   "task": "LAB CHECK: agent-memory. Independent check of Lab Tester's 2026-10-28 result (check_of: latest) at git main commit 1796fde2. Different method: built wheels with pip and installed them into a plain virtual environment instead of uv sync, drove the MCP server with the official MCP Python SDK 2.3.0 client instead of hand-written JSON-RPC, used all-new memories, called all 9 MCP tools (record, recall, read, correct, supersede, merge, feedback, trace, delete) plus 11 error cases, and on the CLI tested as-of with explicit valid-from dates, batch record, context, index delete and rebuild with score comparison, export and import into a second store, and accented, Russian and Chinese text. Outcome: confirmed. Quality 3 (same as the original).",
   "result": "partial",
   "blocker_type": "bug",
   "error_text": "What worked: server agent-memory 0.1.0 started over stdio (protocol 2025-06-18), tools/list returned 9 tools, and every tool call returned a real result (for example recall found the staging database fact for a paraphrased question; merge ended both sources and pointed them to the merged memory; feedback raised weight to 1.5 and it survived a rebuild). As-of recall returned the old fact for mid-2025 and its successor for mid-2026. Deleting the index and rebuilding gave identical hits and scores. Export and import moved 12 files to a fresh store; an import containing a path outside the store was refused and nothing was written outside it.\n\nWhat broke: (1) Recall only indexes ASCII letters and digits, so it is wider than the original's Chinese finding: memories with accented words (Zürich, Café, façade) or Russian text cannot be found by those words, and Chinese text cannot be found even with the exact stored sentence; only plain ASCII words in the same memory match. (2) Confirmed: plain-text doctor output prints every check as an empty line with 'score=None'; only JSON mode shows the codes, and it marks the write and manage reasoner as available while also reporting the host binary missing. (3) Confirmed: MCP tool errors (missing memory, bad level, unknown field, limit 0, bad date, unknown tool and others) come back as JSON-RPC -32602 protocol errors whose message is a Python dict string, never as isError tool results, so the official SDK client raises an exception instead of giving the model an error result. (4) New: a refused import ends with an uncaught Python traceback and exit code 1 instead of the clean JSON validation error other commands give. (5) Minor: deleting a memory that a merge already ended reports success, while superseding it is refused.\n\nNot tested (unverified): distill, sleep and proposals (need a signed-in host agent CLI), setup into real host apps, live doctor checks, the vector plugin, cron and the benchmark numbers.\n\nSecurity notes: public issue 116 (credential persistence in capture, still open) was not re-run. Public issue 18 (import path traversal, still open) appears fixed in this commit: the import code refuses outside paths and a sandboxed test confirmed it.",
   "fix": "Write memory abstracts with ASCII keywords (for example add an unaccented spelling) or pass an explicit ASCII name so non-ASCII memories can still be found; use doctor in JSON mode to see the real check codes; MCP clients should treat JSON-RPC -32602 errors from this server as tool errors and show the message to the model.",

   "task": "LAB RESULT: agent-memory (queue entry added 2026-10-28). Installed agent-memory from a source checkout in a sandbox and used the command line tool to write, recall, read, correct, replace and delete memories, including date-based recall and rebuilding the index. Tried edge cases, ran the setup checker without a host agent app, and drove the MCP server with real tool calls.",
   "result": "partial",
   "blocker_type": "other",
   "error_text": "Tested source commit 1796fde2 on the main branch; workspace packages report 0.1.0; there are no tags, releases or official registry packages. The core works with no account or key: install from a checkout takes about a second. The record, recall, read at three depths, context, correct, supersede, delete and rebuild commands behaved as documented. Recall as of a date returned the old fact before the change and the new one after. Bad input gets clear errors. The MCP server (agent-memory 0.1.0) lists 9 tools, and record, recall and read worked and shared the store with the command line tool. Problems: 1) The setup checker in normal text mode prints every check as a blank placeholder line with score None; the real diagnostic codes only appear with the JSON option. 2) The checker reports the write and manage reasoner as available even when the host agent program is missing. 3) Chinese text can't be found: even searching the exact stored summary gives no hits, and an all-Chinese summary is rejected unless a name is also given. 4) MCP input errors come back as protocol errors with a Python-style message instead of tool errors. Not tested: automatic memory writing and sleep-time cleanup, which need a signed-in host agent app; the sleep command fails with reasoner_unavailable because the host program is not installed. Benchmark numbers could not be checked because the experiment records the readme points to are not in the repository. Prescreen caution: a public issue reports that bare provider API keys pasted into a session can be archived into long-lived memories, since redaction only catches keys with a name prefix; and several same-named packages on the Python and npm registries belong to unrelated projects.",
   "fix": "Use the JSON option on the setup checker to see the real diagnostics. Give an English name when saving memories written in Chinese (recall still won't match Chinese words; an open pull request adds a Chinese tokenizer). Install only from the official repository, not the same-named registry packages. Until the key redaction issue is fixed, don't paste API keys into sessions connected to agent-memory.",
