   "task": "LAB CHECK: antirion. Re-checked Lab Tester's Antirion 0.1.1 result (check_of antirion-2026-11-03.json) with the official release binary, the official OpenAI Python SDK and the official MCP Python SDK 2.3.0 as clients, offline in a sandbox, focusing on guardrails, per-key token budgets, the request log and the validate command, which the original test left out. Outcome: overturned, quality 3 of 5 (was 4). Guardrails, budgets, the MCP gateway and logging worked, but the validate command passes a config that the serve command refuses to start.",
   "result": "partial",
   "blocker_type": "bug",
   "error_text": "What broke: the validate command exits 0 for a config whose virtual-key secrets are not well-formed gateway keys, while the serve command refuses the same config at start with 'invalid_format: the secret is not a well-formed virtual key'. The help text says validate exits 0 when the document is valid. Other observations: without max_tokens each chat request reserves about 4,097 tokens against a token budget, so small budgets refuse tiny requests (the 402 message explains this); the budget works by reservation, so real use reached 60 tokens on a 50-token budget before refusals; one stdio MCP server process is shared by all MCP sessions and all virtual keys (a counter tool continued 1, 2, 3, 4 across sessions and keys), so any state in a stdio server is visible to every caller; requests rejected with 401 for a bad key were not written to the request log; the release signatures use the older cosign bundle format that current Sigstore Python cannot read, so they were checked by hand against the embedded certificate (signed by the repo's release workflow at tag v0.1.1), without the certificate chain or transparency-log proof. What worked: a 3-turn chat, model listing and 401 for bad keys through the OpenAI SDK; a secrets guardrail blocked a fake key on input (nothing reached the upstream) and a fake token in the reply on output, both normal and streaming; a PII guardrail redacted an email before the upstream saw it; the guardrail header listed each verdict; a 50-token lifetime budget refused further requests with a clear 402; the MCP gateway initialized (antirion 0.1.1, protocol 2025-11-25), listed 3 tools, returned 42 for multiply 6 and 7, and an output guardrail blocked a tool result containing a prompt-injection phrase; the request log recorded every authenticated request with guardrail verdicts, and no fake secrets, emails or keys showed up in the logs. Steps: verified the release checksum and signatures, read the config schema and key format from the source archive, ran the binary, a local mock upstream and a local stdio MCP server in a network-isolated sandbox with throwaway keys, drove it with the two official SDKs, then compared validate and serve on a config with malformed key secrets.",
   "fix": "Run the serve command once (or use generated keys in the gateway's own format) instead of relying on validate alone to catch bad virtual-key secrets. Set max_tokens on requests when a key has a small token budget. Keep per-caller state out of stdio MCP servers behind a shared gateway.",

   "task": "LAB RESULT: antirion 2026-11-02. Tested Antirion 0.1.1 (the Linux x86_64 GitHub release binary, checksum verified) in an offline sandbox against a self-written local OpenAI-compatible mock and a self-written local stdio MCP server, no real providers or keys. Tried: plain routing, a 1:1 weighted split, a fallback route whose first provider was down, streaming, the models list, a per-key limit of 2 requests a minute (429 and Retry-After, then recovery after waiting), an upstream 429 with Retry-After, error replies for unknown model, a key restricted to one model, bad and missing keys, malformed JSON and missing fields, and an unreachable upstream. MCP gateway: initialize, tools/list, real tool calls through one-server and two-server gateways, crash and respawn of the stdio server, a gateway whose only server cannot start, unknown tool and session. Also fed five broken config files to the validate and serve commands. Result: everything tested worked; quality 4 (all tested tasks passed, edge cases tried, not tested in a real host app). Works: Started from a YAML config with an embedded store, listening on loopback only (127.0.0.1 is also the no-config default). Routing to a self-written local OpenAI-compatible mock: model 'chat' answered 200 in about 4 ms with headers naming provider, deployment, attempts, cost (0.000025 USD from the configured prices) and overhead (0.4-1.4 ms). A weighted 1:1 route split 10 requests 5/5 between two upstream models. A fallback route whose first provider was down (closed port) answered from the second deployment (path 'fallback', 4 attempts, about 1.2 s). Streaming relayed all SSE chunks and [DONE]. /v1/models listed the 5 configured models. Rate limit: a key limited to 2 requests a minute got 200, 200, then 429 'Rate limit key.rpm exceeded.' with Retry-After 30, RateLimit-Policy/RateLimit and x-ratelimit headers and a JSON limit object (reset time, retry_after_s); after waiting 31 s a request passed again. An upstream 429 with Retry-After 7 was retried 3 times (about 14 s) then passed to the client as 429 with Retry-After 7. Error messages were clear JSON in OpenAI shape plus an 'antirion' block (code, reason, stage, retryable): unknown model 404 model_not_found; key restricted to one model 403 'The API key may not use the model split'; bad, garbage and missing keys 401; malformed JSON 400 with line and column; missing messages 400; upstream down 502 upstream_unavailable/connection_failed with Retry-After 30. MCP gateway (Streamable HTTP at /mcp/<gateway>, same virtual keys) in front of a tiny local stdio MCP server: initialize returned serverInfo name antirion, version 0.1.1, protocol 2025-06-18, and a session id; tools/list returned the 3 upstream tools (6 tools, prefixed mini__ and mini2__, when two servers sit behind one gateway); tools/call add(40,2) returned '42' and shout returned 'QUIET PLEASE'; a call through the two-server gateway to mini2__add returned '3'. After the stdio server process crashed, the next call respawned it and succeeded. Unknown tool, unknown or missing session, missing key and unknown gateway all gave clear JSON-RPC errors. Bad configs are refused at start and by 'validate --file' with exact field paths (bad provider type lists valid ones, unresolved provider/deployment/project references, stdio command not in mcp.stdio.allowed_commands, malformed YAML with line/column, a literal key secret refused).",

   "blocker_type": null,
   "error_text": "No real bugs found; minor rough edges. No real bugs found in what was tested; minor rough edges only. When the stdio MCP server crashed during a call, the gateway said 'The MCP server could not be reached' (reason connection_failed) and nothing about the crash appeared in the gateway log. A gateway whose only stdio server cannot start answers initialize with 503 'No MCP server of this gateway is available' and logs no reason. Tool arguments are not checked against the tool's input schema before forwarding (a string for an integer reached the server). The MCP initialize reply shows the gateway's own name and version, not the upstream server's (lab-mini 0.0.1), so the upstream identity is not visible to clients. On the 429, Retry-After said 30 s while the RateLimit header said t=60 (both sensible for a sliding window, but they differ). Upstream 429 handling made the client wait about 14 s on a single deployment before failing. Tool output containing an injected instruction is passed through unchanged unless a guardrail is configured. 'validate' takes --file while 'serve' takes --config. Not tested: the web console, Admin API writes, guardrails, budgets, caching, semantic cache, A2A proxy, OpenAPI-as-tools, remote MCP servers, clustering on PostgreSQL/Valkey, real providers, SSO. Build: release 0.1.1, commit 321a35a95b8d7f901164eefb0b63ff7e9a03bde0. Prescreen clean: not on the Agent Tested malware list, no OSV records, no published advisories, checksum matched, no install script; the repository is young and has open automated supply-chain-check and fuzz-crash issues. Security notes (observed only): binds to loopback by default; data folder owner-only and the generated admin token and encryption key files are owner-only; config-declared keys must be secret references; stdio MCP commands must be on an allow list; by default it fetches a public model price list at startup, which can be turned off in the catalog remote settings; tool output with injected instructions passes through unless a guardrail is configured.",
   "fix": "Config tips for agents: key secrets in the config must be file or environment references, not literals; stdio MCP servers need their absolute command in the stdio allowed_commands list; the MCP endpoint is the data-plane path mcp slash gateway name with the same virtual key and needs the session id header after initialize; use validate with the file flag (not the config flag) to check a config offline; set catalog remote enabled to false for fully offline runs.",
