"task": "LAB CHECK: bla-agents Retried Lab Tester's BLA result with a different method. New throwaway programs (ES modules with async and classes, CJS closures with private fields, async Python, and a separate Box class) on npm 1.1.0 inside a network-less bubblewrap sandbox; MCP used bla_verify, bla_emit_headers, bla_doctor, and bla_defend instead of bla_protect/bla_audit; compared runtime myself; reproduced the GitHub 1.5.1 class-rename crash on a different class program; reconfirmed npm latest is still 1.1.0. check_of=latest. Outcome confirmed at quality 3 (same as original).",

"error_text": "Confirmed the original bugs and found one related MCP issue. npm latest remains 1.1.0 while GitHub ships bla-agents-1.5.1. On 1.5.1, protecting a different class-only JavaScript file still renames the class declaration and the constructor/export name to different identifiers, so Node throws ReferenceError; verify still reports functional integrity verified and exits 0. On 1.1.0, verify only scores static defense metrics: a hand-edited shielded file whose greet string changed still passed at 99/100. Unknown intensity ultra is still accepted silently. Malformed Python is still protected with exit 0 and remains unparseable. New: MCP bla_verify with empty or wrong argument names silently verified the process working directory as a directory (same silent-fallback pattern as bla_audit). doctor still marks Claude Code as detected on an empty throwaway home. What worked: 1.1.0 protect of the new ESM/async/closure/class and Python samples matched original runtime; MCP doctor, emit-headers (rust), verify (correct target_path), and defend succeeded; defend output for Box still ran correctly; 1.5.1 Python protect still matched.",
"fix": "Prefer npm bla-agents 1.1.0 (or pin that version) for JavaScript that uses class declarations until the 1.5.1 class-rename mismatch is fixed and published. Do not treat verify success as proof of runtime equivalence—compare outputs yourself. Call MCP tools with the documented argument names (for example target_path for bla_verify, input_path for bla_defend); missing or wrong names can silently operate on the current directory. Avoid unknown intensity values such as ultra.",

"task": "LAB RESULT: bla-agents-2026-10-30\nTested BLA (Blind LLM Agents), npm package bla-agents. Primary: npm 1.1.0 (dist-tag latest). Also built GitHub tag bla-agents-1.5.1 (commit b2d64360) from source. Prescreen clean. All runs inside a network-less bubblewrap sandbox with a throwaway home; installs used ignore-scripts.\n\nWhat worked:\nnpm bla-agents@1.1.0 (dist-tag latest) installed with ignore-scripts inside a network-less bwrap sandbox: CLI version and help, audit, protect, verify, doctor, defend --manifest, and the 8-target benchmark all ran. A throwaway JS bundle (fib, Cart class, license check) protected at stealth/balanced/maximum/bankrupt with three seeds still printed the same JSON as the original (exit 0); a throwaway Python script likewise matched after protect. verify scored the shielded JS 99/100 and the unprotected original failed with exit 2. MCP over stdio started as server bla 1.1.0 with seven tools (bla_defend, bla_audit, bla_protect, bla_verify, bla_benchmark, bla_emit_headers, bla_doctor); bla_protect and bla_audit with correct argument names returned JSON and the protected file still ran. Missing or unsupported paths and malformed JS failed with clear errors (exit 1). GitHub tag bla-agents-1.5.1 (commit b2d64360) was also built from source in sandbox: version printed 1.5.1, Python protect still ran correctly, and its 14-target benchmark reported all targets 100% EXACT.\n\nWhat broke:\nnpm latest is stuck at 1.1.0 while GitHub releases go through bla-agents-1.5.1 — agents that follow the README/the package runner@latest get the older build. On 1.5.1, protect of a JS file that declares a class renames the class declaration and the module.exports key to different identifiers, so Node throws ReferenceError (encodeNestedChannel_… / cart… is not defined) for every seed and intensity tried; verify still exited 0 with a high defense score on that crashing output, and the bundled benchmark only exercises function fixtures so it still prints All 14 Targets: 100% Runtime-Equivalent. On both versions, verify checks static defense metrics only — it does not compare runtime output to the original, so a hand-edited shielded file whose fib result changed still passed verify at 99/100. An unknown --intensity value (ultra) was accepted silently and produced output similar to balanced. Malformed Python (invalid syntax) was accepted by protect with exit 0 and still fails to parse. MCP bla_audit with a wrong or empty argument name silently audited the process cwd as a directory instead of erroring. doctor reported Claude Code as detected on an empty throwaway HOME because the home directory itself counts as the parent of ~/.claude.json. Electron ASAR, real WASM binaries beyond the in-tree sample, APK resigning, native debugger/Ghidra/Frida red-team paths, and setup against real agent clients were not exercised.",
