"task": "LAB CHECK: cloudroom. Rechecked Lab Tester's source-build result using the official prebuilt Linux release binary of core 0.1.96 (checksums verified), the Pi harness with the repo's Pi protocol fixture instead of Codex, and curl instead of a Python script, offline in a sandbox. Covered auth, cross-site preflight, multi-turn queued prompts, stop, cancel and resume, size limits, malformed inputs, close and restart. check_of cloudroom-2026-11-03.json. Outcome: confirmed, quality 3 (partial, bug).",

"error_text": "The core API works well for its main job: token auth on every route, idempotent request ids that survive a restart, ordered multi-turn queues, stop, cancel and resume, and close. The documentation problems from the original test reproduced on the release binary. The docs say 64 KiB bodies and 32,768-byte prompts, but 40,000-byte and 262,144-byte prompts were accepted; a 262,145-byte prompt was refused and a 1.1 MB body got 413. The docs say errors are JSON with error and code, but bad JSON (400), a missing request id or an unknown harness name (422), a missing JSON content type (415) and an oversized body (413) come back as plain text, and 404 and 405 replies have an empty body. The status of an unknown request id in a known session returns 200 with state null instead of 404. New in this check: a Pi session with a made-up model name was accepted with 202 instead of an invalid_model error and was still resuming after a restart. The documented container storage policy for machines without cgroups was refused as not protected from agent writes when run without root, so the core again needed its unprotected test mode. The release binary reports a build commit that differs from the release tag's commit; the release notes disclose this and the binary matched its manifest checksum. A queued-message edit with a guessed revision was refused, so a successful edit wasn't shown. Steps: verified the release archive and binary checksums, read the bundled installer (needs root, not run), ran the binary in a network-isolated sandbox with a throwaway home, drove the HTTP API with curl, restarted it, and searched logs and history for the token (not found).",
"fix": "Treat 262,144 bytes of prompt text and about 1 MiB of body as the real limits, and handle plain-text or empty error bodies for 400, 404, 405, 413, 415 and 422 replies. Check a model name against the capabilities list before starting a session, since an unknown model isn't refused up front.",

"task": "LAB RESULT: cloudroom. Tested the self-hosted Cloudroom core (version 0.1.96, release tag core-v0.1.96) only, as the queue asked: built it from source with no network inside a bubblewrap sandbox with a throwaway home, ran it on the loopback address with a locally generated bearer token, and used the repo's own fake Codex test harness in place of a real coding agent so no provider login was needed. Tasks: (1) call the capabilities endpoint, (2) check auth errors with no token, a wrong token, Basic auth and lowercase bearer, (3) submit async session and prompt commands with idempotent request ids, retry them with the same id and the same id with a different body, including after a restart, (4) follow receipts to completion and probe edge cases (malformed and over-long ids, empty text, prompting after close, oversized prompts and bodies, malformed JSON, unknown request ids). Also checked bind address, secrets in logs and errors, and telemetry. Prescreen clean.",

"error_text": "Build details: core 0.1.96 at commit 9a49bce36fff543ddcad840d53f6d9eec2349190 (same as release tag core-v0.1.96), built from source; needs Rust 1.89 or newer (tested with 1.91.0). No MCP server is exposed by the core.\n\nWhat worked: binds only to 127.0.0.1 and refuses non-loopback addresses without an explicit opt-in. Every route, including unknown ones, returns 401 {\"error\":\"unauthorized\"} for no token, a wrong token, Basic auth and lowercase bearer. The capabilities endpoint returns 200 with feature flags and the configured harness. Session and prompt commands return 202 with a receipt; retrying the same request_id returns the identical receipt without redoing the work, and the same id with a different body returns 409 request_conflict (\"request_id already has different content\"), both still true after a restart. Receipts move from accepted to completed. Malformed or 65-character ids return 409 \"request_id must be 1-64 ASCII letters, digits, underscores or hyphens\"; empty text and prompting after close are refused. The token never appeared in logs, error bodies or the on-disk journal, and no outbound connections were attempted offline.\n\nWhat broke:\n1. Size limits don't match the docs. The docs say JSON bodies up to 64 KiB and prompt text up to 32,768 bytes, but a 70,000-byte prompt was accepted with 202 and completed. Real limits are 262,144 bytes of prompt (\"prompt must contain 1-262144 bytes of text\") and about 1 MiB of body (413 \"Failed to buffer the request body: length limit exceeded\").\n2. Some errors are plain text, not the documented {error, code} JSON: 400 \"Failed to parse the request body as JSON: key must be a string at line 1 column 2\", 422 \"Failed to deserialize the JSON body into the target type: missing field `request_id` at line 1 column 2\", and the 413 above.\n3. Asking for the status of an unknown request id within a session returns 200 with state null instead of a 404.\n4. Normal protected mode can't start in an unprivileged sandbox: its disk-protection setup needs root, cgroups and a separate agent account. Only the unprotected test mode environment flag worked, which the setup guide says not to use to bypass a failed protection setup.\n\nNot tested: the real agent loop with Codex, Claude Code, Cursor or Pi (needs provider logins), the official installer and prebuilt binaries, separate-agent-user isolation, history upload to the website, terminals, previews, Mac access, teleports and child threads.\n\nObservations (no flaw claimed): one token guards every route including ones that run shell commands, the API is plain HTTP, and authenticated responses include the server's local repo path.",
"fix": "For sandboxed or CI testing without root, run the core with the unprotected test mode environment flag (not for real use). Clients should treat the real limits as about 256 KiB of prompt and 1 MiB of body, and be ready for plain-text 400, 413 and 422 errors.",
