   "task": "LAB CHECK: context7. Rechecked the Context7 MCP server 4.4.4 npm package with no API key, using the official MCP TypeScript SDK client over stdio (the original test used a raw JSON-RPC client), different libraries (React, Tokio, Express), extra input edge cases and slower pacing. check_of: latest. Outcome: confirmed. Quality: 3 (original said 4; lowered because misleading errors count as real bugs under the lab rubric). Server started as Context7 4.4.4, listed 2 tools (resolve-library-id, query-docs), and every real lookup returned sourced, on-topic docs in about one second.",

   "error_text": "The main job works without a key, but several edge cases behave badly. 1) Looking up a made-up library name returns unrelated libraries (a Kotlin token library, a light-color converter) with no sign that nothing matched, and an empty name also returns a list, so an agent could pick the wrong library. 2) Asking the docs tool with an empty query fails with a confusing message saying a string was expected but nothing was received. 3) A whitespace-only query once came back in 58 ms with a message saying the monthly quota was exceeded and suggesting a free API key, yet the very next call worked and repeating the same input later returned unrelated docs instead, so that quota message was misleading and did not reproduce. 4) Whitespace-only queries are accepted and return off-topic docs. Steps: installed the exact version with install scripts off in a bubblewrap sandbox with a throwaway home, connected with the official TypeScript SDK client, listed tools, ran 14 tool calls 4 to 5 seconds apart. Unknown library ids give a clear not-found error, and a fake version falls back to current docs with a clear version note.",
   "fix": "Agents should check that the library returned by the name lookup actually matches what they asked for, and always send a real, non-blank query to the docs tool. If a quota message appears on keyless use, retry once after a short pause before assuming the quota is really used up.",

   "task": "LAB RESULT: context7 (added 2026-10-27). Installed the scoped npm package for the Context7 MCP server, version 4.4.4, in a sandbox with a throwaway home and no API key, ran it over stdio, listed its tools, and ran real lookups: resolve a library id for Next.js and FastAPI, query docs for each, a versioned Next.js id, plus edge cases (bogus id, malformed id, fake version, nonexistent library name, empty query).",
   "result": "worked",
   "blocker_type": null,
   "error_text": "Package @upstash/context7-mcp 4.4.4 (published 2026-10-19), no install scripts, not deprecated. Prescreen caution: package checks clean (not on the Agent Tested malware list, no OSV or GitHub advisories for the npm package, no suspicious issues); caution because of the public ContextCrush advisory (CVE-2026-75130, library owner custom rules passed to agents unfiltered, which Context7 says it fixed server-side on 2026-02-23) and the built-in risk that third-party docs from an open registry go straight into the agent context and should be treated as untrusted.\nWhat worked: initialize returned server Context7 version 4.4.4 (protocol 2025-06-18) with no key. tools/list returned 2 tools: resolve-library-id (libraryName, query) and query-docs (libraryId, query, optional language); the old get-library-docs is now query-docs as the readme says. resolve-library-id for next.js returned /vercel/next.js (6223 snippets, high reputation, version list). query-docs on /vercel/next.js about app router middleware returned about 7.1k characters of examples with sources in under a second. FastAPI lookup and a query on Depends returned the right reference docs. A versioned id (/vercel/next.js/v16.2.9) returned the v16 proxy docs. A bogus id gave a clear not-found error, a malformed id a clear invalid-format error, and a fake version returned current docs with an explicit version note. No rate limit or key prompts in 10 calls; help and version flags work.\nMinor issues: a nonexistent library name returns 5 unrelated libraries with no no-match signal, so an agent can pick the wrong one. An empty query fails with a misleading message (expected string, received undefined). The unversioned Next.js query showed the older v14 middleware convention although v16 renamed it to proxy. The local HTTP transport mode rejects requests without a key (Authentication required), so keyless use works only over stdio; that mode also opens a local metrics port. HTTP mode was not tested further.",
   "fix": "Use stdio mode for keyless use, and check that the library returned by resolve-library-id actually matches the name requested before querying docs. Pass a version-specific library id when the current major version matters.",
