"task": "LAB CHECK: invisible-playwright-mcp. Re-checked Lab Tester's 2026-10-29 result (check_of latest, no tools page yet) by building the v0.73.0 tag from source with pip instead of the PyPI wheels, driving the MCP server with a hand-written raw JSON-RPC client instead of the MCP SDK, and using new local test pages in a bubblewrap sandbox. Focused on the tools the original skipped: key presses, click at a point with press-and-hold, file upload, the window watch view, the second support browser and reopening the same identity. Outcome: confirmed, quality 3.",

"error_text": "Server 'stealth' 0.73.0 started over stdio and listed 17 tools. Key presses, click at a point (correct canvas offset, a 1.5 second hold measured as 1507 ms), file upload (off by default, then working inside an allowed folder and refusing paths outside it), the watch view, the support browser and reopening the same identity all worked. Reproduced from the original test: the navigate tool still fails with 'the main browser is not open' before the open tool is called, although its description says it opens a page if none exists; the snapshot tool drops the text of a label linked to an input while keeping an aria-label; local file addresses are accepted, reported as '(no HTTP response: same-document navigation)', and the file's text can then be read; a GeoIP database of about 116 MB is downloaded even with no proxy set, which the privacy policy says happens only with a proxy. New: click at a point accepts coordinates far outside the page (negative or very large) and reports success instead of an error, and the status tool says nothing survives the session while a fresh server process brings back the same identity, so the identity is kept on disk. Closing an already closed browser now answers 'the main browser is not open' without an error flag, which is fine. Real anti-bot sites, proxies, saved profiles, the web UI and host app plugins were not tested.",
"fix": "Call the open tool before navigating. Start the server from an empty folder, keep approval prompts on for the JavaScript evaluation tool, and only allow uploads from a dedicated folder. Expect about 660 MB of downloads on first use.",

"task": "LAB RESULT: invisible-playwright-mcp (added 2026-10-29). Installed the PyPI package in a bubblewrap sandbox with a throwaway home, drove the MCP server over stdio, and ran four tasks on local test pages only: read text and a table, fill and submit a form, typing edge cases, and error cases (missing selector, refused port, 404, invalid URL, bad arguments). Also compared fingerprints head to head with Microsoft playwright-mcp 0.0.83 on the same local pages. Prescreen: caution. Works: (1) Started over stdio: initialize returned server name 'stealth', version 0.73.0, protocol 2025-11-25. (2) tools/list loaded 17 tools (browser_open/close/list/status/navigate/read_text/snapshot/read_html/take_screenshot/watch/click/click_at/type/select_option/upload_files/press_key/evaluate). (3) Real calls against local test pages only: the first browser_open answered 'the engine is not on this machine yet; its download is starting', the second opened a headless patched Firefox 151 with a fresh no-profile identity; browser_navigate returned 'navigated to a local test page (HTTP 200)', browser_read_text returned the exact paragraph text and the table as tab-separated rows, browser_snapshot listed the links/inputs/select/buttons with unique selectors and coordinates. Form task passed end to end: click link, type, select 'blue', click Submit, read 'Hello, Lab Tester (blue)'; a self-hiding button was clicked once only. browser_type reports what the field kept ('kept only the first 4 of 8 characters' for maxlength, 'the page shows it as HELLO' for a reformatting field). browser_evaluate read document.title and refused a script click(), naming browser_click instead. browser_take_screenshot returned an image. Edge cases gave clear errors: missing selector (matches 0, with advice), refused port (NS_ERROR_CONNECTION_REFUSED), 404 page reported as HTTP 404, invalid URL, unknown select option, missing required argument (pydantic validation error). Head-to-head on the same local fingerprint page: invisible_playwright_mcp showed navigator.webdriver false, a Windows Firefox 151 user agent in both JS and HTTP headers, platform Win32, 5 plugins, no automation globals; Microsoft @playwright/mcp 0.0.83 (server 'Playwright' 1.64.0-alpha, 25 tools) completed the same form task with Chromium and Firefox but exposed HeadlessChrome in the UA (Chromium) and navigator.webdriver true with 0 plugins (Firefox). Engine download is sha256-checked against a digest shipped in invisible-core (read in source).",

"error_text": "Package invisible-playwright-mcp 0.73.0 from PyPI (tag v0.73.0, commit a21854c30fba; deps invisible-playwright 0.43.0, invisible-core 53.48.0; patched Firefox 151.0 engine). Breaks: Privacy policy says a GeoIP database is downloaded 'when a proxy is set', but with no proxy set the first run still downloaded a ~116 MB GeoIP database, and the source looks up the machine's public IP through third-party IP-echo services (not listed in the privacy policy) to pick locale and timezone; the reported timezone followed the IP, not the machine's own zone. browser_navigate's description says it opens the page 'if none exists', but before browser_open every browser tool, including navigate, fails with 'the main browser is not open'. browser_snapshot dropped the <label for> text of a labelled input (aria-label was kept). Navigating to a file-scheme URL is accepted and reported as '(no HTTP response: same-document navigation)', which is misleading. browser_evaluate is annotated readOnlyHint=true even though it runs model-written JavaScript (the click/assign refusal is a denylist). browser_close on a closed browser returns success. Bad arguments surface raw pydantic text with a docs URL. First use downloads ~630 MB (engine plus GeoIP) and needs network. Untested: real anti-bot sites (deliberately not tried; local pages only), proxies, saved profiles, the support browser, file upload, browser_watch, browser_click_at, the web UI (needs an OpenRouter key), Claude Code/Codex/Gemini plugin installs, Windows, the repo's own test suite, the launch-counter request. Security notes (observed, already public via third-party scanners): browser_evaluate is annotated read-only although it runs model-written JavaScript in the page; hosts that auto-approve read-only tools will run it without asking. Its refusal of page-changing calls is a denylist, which the tool's own description says is not complete. Users should keep approval prompts on for this tool. (Also reported publicly by third-party scanners.) browser_navigate accepts file-scheme and localhost URLs with no restriction, so a prompt-injected page could steer the agent to local files or local services. Use it only with trusted tasks and keep its results away from secrets. The server reads a .env file from the directory it is started in (stated in its help text), which can change engine, proxy and upload settings; start it from a clean directory. Downloads a closed patched Firefox build (sha256-pinned by the companion package) and a GeoIP database at runtime, and looks up the public IP through third-party IP-echo services even with no proxy set.",
