   "task": "LAB CHECK: kanzo. Independent re-test of Lab Tester's kanzo 0.3.0 result (check_of kanzo-2026-11-03.json). Built 0.3.0 from the release source archive with cargo (checksums verified, upstream tests passing) and drove the MCP server with the official MCP Python SDK over stdio and streamable HTTP, offline in a bubblewrap sandbox, with new fixtures: Unicode and control-character titles, case variants on every status-taking tool, a 1,500-task project, multi-session next_task races with concurrent deletes, concurrent updates and comments, human-task creation racing next_task, and a three-process multi-turn session. Outcome: confirmed, quality 3 of 5 (partial, bug).",
   "result": "partial",
   "blocker_type": "bug",
   "error_text": "Confirmed from the original: list_tasks refuses status values in other cases such as Doing, DONE, All and ALL, while create_task and update_task accept any case and project names are case-insensitive in the same call (public issue 20). An update_task that changes nothing still replies Updated. Agent rules are not enforced by the server: an agent could comment on and delete a task marked for a human, and comment author names are free text. Leaving with no joined board exits 0. Turning sharing on makes the board listen on all interfaces, and a later plain start keeps doing so until sharing is turned off, while the config file still shows the localhost listen address. A mistyped home folder silently creates a new empty board. There is no title length limit: a 100,000-character title was accepted and list_tasks echoes it in full.\n\nNew in this check: creating a task with the human flag is done in two steps, so in 4 of 100 rounds with seven sessions calling next_task at the same moment, an agent took the new task; it ended up in doing and marked human, hidden from the agents' list (matches public issue 17). A NUL character in a title is stored and returned by list_tasks and the JSON export, while the create reply shows a space. Starting the board with port 0 listens on a random port but prints a localhost URL with port 0 for both the board and MCP, so the real address is never shown. list_tasks with status done or all shows only the newest 20 done tasks, and MCP has no way to page to older ones (get_task can still read them by id). A request without initialize using MCP protocol 2026-07-28 gets HTTP 400 for missing protocol metadata (as in public issue 24); malformed JSON to the MCP endpoint gets 415 instead of a JSON-RPC parse error; ending an unknown session gets 202, and the Python SDK logs a session termination warning on every normal close. Minor: the Markdown export writes titles raw, and writing an export to a closed pipe prints a Rust panic.\n\nWhat worked: server kanzo 0.3.0 started on protocol 2025-11-25 and listed 10 tools; real calls such as create_project returned clear confirmations; Unicode, emoji and right-to-left titles round-trip; eight sessions draining 30 tasks with concurrent deletes never got the same task twice; 40 concurrent updates and 80 concurrent comments on one task all succeeded with consistent results; foreign Origin, null Origin, foreign Host and cross-site simple POST requests were refused with 403; the board's Markdown renderer escaped every injection payload tried. Not tested: browser UI, image attachments, git sync with a real remote, sharing between two machines, service install, self-update, a real Claude Code or Codex session.",
   "fix": "Pass list_tasks status in lowercase (todo, doing, review, done, all). Create human tasks from the board, or create them outside todo and then mark them, to avoid the next_task race. Strip control characters from titles before creating tasks. Use a fixed port rather than port 0. Turn sharing off explicitly and check the startup message rather than the config file to know whether the board is exposed. Double-check the home folder name before running commands.",

   "task": "LAB RESULT: kanzo (kanzo-2026-11-02). Hands-on test of Kanzo 0.3.0 prebuilt Linux binary in a bubblewrap sandbox with no network and a throwaway home: started the stdio MCP server, listed tools, created a project and tasks, read, updated and moved a task through todo, doing, review and done, added comments, used next_task and delete_task, restarted the server and checked persistence, raced two agents on next_task, tried bad inputs, used the CLI non-interactively and checked the web board's bind address and request filtering. Prescreen: caution. Works: MCP over stdio (kanzo mcp) started: initialize returned serverInfo name kanzo, version 0.3.0, protocol 2025-06-18, plus short usage instructions. tools/list returned 10 tools (list_projects, create_project, link_repo, list_tasks, get_task, create_task, update_task, add_comment, next_task, delete_task). Real calls: create_project lab returned 'Created project lab (Lab Test), linked to example/lab'; create_task returned 'Created lab#1 in todo: Write the parser'; update_task changed title and tags, then moved lab#1 todo -> doing -> review -> done with 'Updated lab#1, doing -> review'; add_comment and get_task read back the description, tags and comments; next_task moved the top todo task to doing and skipped a human task; delete_task worked and a second delete said 'no task #5'. Multi-turn: after restarting the server process, list_tasks and get_task returned the same tasks, statuses and comments. With the working folder in a git repo whose remote matches a linked repo, create_task with no project picked the right project. Two MCP processes calling next_task at the same moment on one todo task, 5 rounds: one got it each time, the other got 'Nothing in todo'. Error messages are clear and flagged isError: unknown status ('unknown status \"nowhere\"; use one of: todo, doing, review, done'), unknown task ('no task #999'), wrong project prefix ('no task lab#4 (#4 is web#4)'), bad id form, unknown project with the list of projects, bad slug rules, empty title or comment, duplicate project, repo already linked, missing or wrongly typed arguments ('missing field `title`'), unknown tool (JSON-RPC -32602). CLI non-interactive: --version, export (Markdown, -f json, -p project, -o file) with exit 0; unknown project exits 1 with the project list; bad --format, missing join host and unknown subcommand exit 2 with usage; update with no network exits 1 'can't reach GitHub'; sync before setup exits 1 with setup instructions; join to an unreachable or invalid address exits 1 with a clear message. The web board binds to 127.0.0.1 by default; requests with a foreign Host header or a cross-site Origin get 403 'kanzo does not answer requests from other sites'; path traversal attempts returned 404. MCP over HTTP at /mcp initialized (same name/version, session id) and list_tasks returned the board. Offline, the update check returns latest null without errors.",

   "error_text": "Version details: 0.3.0 (GitHub release v0.3.0, prebuilt kanzo-x86_64-unknown-linux-musl, tag commit b8d9fcd29e1199f7832990020dc61d3df3435286; release archive sha256 checksum verified). Method: Downloaded the v0.3.0 x86_64 Linux musl release archive and the source archive with curl, verified the archive checksum against the release's .sha256 and sha256.sum files, and read the source (update, sync, share, MCP and export code) and the release installer as text. Ran the binary only inside bubblewrap with a throwaway HOME, a cleared environment and all namespaces unshared (no network). Drove the stdio MCP server with a small JSON-RPC client script: initialize, tools/list, create/read/update/move/comment/delete, next_task, bad inputs, a restart of the server process to read the board back, project detection from a git remote, and two concurrent MCP processes racing for one task. Ran the CLI commands non-interactively and checked exit codes. Started the web board inside the sandbox to read its listening addresses from /proc/net/tcp, try a foreign Host header, a cross-site Origin, path traversal, MCP over HTTP and the offline update check.\n\nWhat broke or was misleading: list_tasks refuses status 'Done' and 'ALL' (unknown status) while update_task accepts 'Review' in any case, so agents get an error and retry (public issue #20). update_task with only an id and no fields replies 'Updated lab#1: ...' although nothing changed. Agent-side rules are not enforced by the server: update_task can move a human task to doing or clear its human flag, and add_comment accepts any author name (a comment posted as 'the user' looks the same as a real one). kanzo leave when no board was joined exits 0 and just prints the share status. kanzo share on with no board running starts a board in the foreground; the shared setting is saved, so a later plain kanzo start binds to all interfaces (0.0.0.0) until kanzo share off, which it does print at start. --home with a mistyped folder silently creates a new empty board. Very long titles (5,000 characters) are accepted without a limit. Not tested: the browser board UI, image attachments, git sync with a real remote, share/join between two machines, service install, self-update, Windows/macOS builds, use inside a real Claude Code or Codex session.\n\nUnverified: Browser board UI, keyboard shortcuts and image attachments; git sync with a real private remote, --keep-local and --keep-remote; Share and join between two real machines; kanzo service install and kanzo update (self-update); Use inside a real Claude Code or Codex session; Release artifact attestation (gh attestation verify not run; only the sha256 checksums); Size, memory and startup speed claims\n\nSecurity notes (neutral): The board has no logins by design. With sharing on or listen = \"0.0.0.0\" it listens on all interfaces and anyone who can reach the port can read and change the board and use its MCP endpoint; the sharing setting persists across restarts until kanzo share off. Share only on a trusted network; Recommended install and the built-in self-update download the release installer script and run it with sh; release archives have checksums and GitHub attestations, so verify downloads if you install by hand; An earlier public report (issue #2) described command execution through the sync repo URL; the 0.3.0 source rejects URLs starting with '-' and passes '--' to git. Use 0.3.0 or later; MCP comment author names are free text and agents can edit human-only tasks, so board content written by agents should not be trusted as coming from a specific person; No telemetry found; the only outbound call seen in the source is the daily update check to GitHub releases when the board is open",
   "fix": "Use lowercase 'done' or 'all' as the status filter for list_tasks. Turn sharing off after any share session so the board goes back to listening only on the local loopback address. Pass the project explicitly when connecting over HTTP or from a folder that isn't a git repo.",
