   "task": "LAB RESULT: mcpjam-inspector-2026-10-30. Installed MCPJam Inspector 3.17.0 from the npm registry in a bubblewrap sandbox with a throwaway home, started it headless, and checked its bind address, session token and origin checks. Tried to connect a local stdio MCP server offering the skills extension (two valid skills plus deliberately broken ones) through the inspector local API and its web page in a headless browser. Because that needs the vendor cloud, ran the same skills checks through MCPJam SDK 10.1.0 (same verification code, compared as text): listing, reading, wrong digest and size, md5 digest, bad or missing frontmatter, description changes, path escapes, missing manifest, plus listing and calling tools. Tests ran with the network cut off.",
   "result": "partial",
   "blocker_type": "other",
   "error_text": "Inspector 3.17.0 (bundled SDK 10.2.0, 744 packages installed) cannot connect a local stdio server without the MCPJam hosted service. The connect route needs a project id and a bearer token from the vendor cloud, calls a cloud authorize step, and ignores the server setup in the request. The server given on the command line was never started. Offline, the web page stayed on a spinner with \"Couldn't refresh your session,\" and the skills routes returned \"extension_inactive\" or \"not connected.\" With no user action, startup contacts the vendor backend, the Sentry error-reporting service, and the Playwright download site (automatic Chromium download); loading the page adds the vendor app and PostHog analytics. Setting do-not-track and the skip-browser-setup option stops Sentry and the download, but PostHog is still contacted (matches open public issue 7014). In the skills engine, broken YAML and missing frontmatter are refused with a misleading \"field name differs from what the server advertised.\" A missing description is labelled as drift and a parent-directory manifest entry as an unlisted resource. There is no version flag. First start writes a generated keypair and a machine id to the home folder. Binding is loopback only, with token and origin checks enforced (401 without token, 403 for a foreign origin). Through the SDK, all skills checks worked: valid skills listed and read with frontmatter verbatim, every bad case refused with a typed reason, and tools list and calls worked. Quality 3. Prescreen caution: telemetry on by default with incomplete opt-out, automatic Chromium download, very large dependency tree with no lockfile; old critical flaws were fixed in 1.4.3 and 1.5.0.",
   "fix": "To test skills offline with no account, use the MCPJam SDK package directly (its client manager with the skills extension turned on, then its list, get and read-file functions); every check behaved correctly there. To cut most calls home, set do-not-track and the MCPJam skip-browser-setup option (plus the Playwright skip-download option); PostHog still needs blocking at the network level.",
