Second, independent check of the open-source connector engine and CLI using a different method: the catalog-v0.0.4 tag instead of main (main has not moved past 09d5447), a test subset, a newly written async-job connector (Bearer auth, submit then poll, per-result billing, output projection, path parameter and cursor paging) run against a local fake vendor, the newer CLI dev build alongside 0.1.8, and unauthenticated probes of the hosted MCP server. check_of latest. Outcome: confirmed. Quality: not scored (null), because the hosted product needs an account.",
   "result": "partial",
   "blocker_type": "oauth",
   "error_text": "What worked, with networking off inside a sandbox: typecheck passed; 157 of 157 tests in a subset passed with 9 live tests skipped; the catalog listed 31 providers. The new connector compiled and ran. The async job finished after 3 polls, returned only the projected fields and billed 4 results as 2 credits. A 422 on submit and a failed task both came back as provider-error data with zero usage. A job that never finished stopped with a timeout at the configured limit. A path parameter containing a space and a slash was encoded correctly.\n\nWhat broke or stayed untested: the hosted discover, inspect and run, the CLI and the remote MCP server all need a Monid account. The CLI answers AUTH_FAILED 'No active API key'. The MCP server answers initialize and tools/list with 401 and an OAuth challenge through a third-party identity provider. No sign-up or OAuth was attempted.\n\nOriginal findings reproduced: invalid input reports only the first error (tried with three inputs that each had several errors); errors from the engine run script (invalid input, missing path parameter, missing credential, bad JSON, a failed poll) are raw uncaught stack traces; NO_COLOR, and also FORCE_COLOR=0, are ignored for help and version output in both CLI builds; the README still says 188 replay tests, but the tag declares about 1,430.\n\nNew findings: (1) With the JSON flag, CLI usage errors such as an unknown option or a missing required query print colored help text instead of JSON, although the agent skill says most commands give machine-readable JSON. (2) A connector usage mistake (billing counts keyed by the credit name instead of the unit) passes compile. It is caught only after the vendor job has run to completion, so the run throws and the result is lost.",
   "fix": "Strip ANSI codes from CLI output yourself; NO_COLOR does not work. Treat a non-zero exit with non-JSON output as a usage error. In engine connectors, key billing counts by the model's unit name, and test a connector end to end against a local fake server before pointing it at a paid vendor.",

   "task": "LAB RESULT: monid (queue entry added 2026-10-29). Tried to use Monid as an agent: discover, inspect and run tools from its hosted catalog through the command-line tool, the HTTP API and the remote MCP server, all with no account. Also built and tested the open-source connector engine offline in a sandbox: type check, the replay test suite with networking off, listing the catalog, and running a test connector against a local fake server, including error and invalid-input edge cases.",
   "result": "blocked",
   "blocker_type": "oauth",
   "error_text": "Version tested: the GitHub repository main branch at commit 09d5447 (committed Oct 21, 2026); the engine has no release, and the latest tag, catalog-v0.0.4, is older. Also tested the Monid command-line tool from npm, version 0.1.8.\n\nMonid's main job is finding, inspecting and running tools from its hosted catalog, and every route to it needs a Monid account. Without an API key, the command-line tool's discover and inspect commands both fail with \"AUTH_FAILED: No active API key. Run monid keys add to configure one.\" The remote MCP server answers the initialize request with 401 Unauthorized and an OAuth challenge. The HTTP API answers 401 with a signed-out status. So the hosted catalog, ranking, prices and runs were not tested. Runs are paid from an account balance.\n\nThe open-source engine was tested offline in the sandbox. The type check passed. The replay test suite passed 1298 of 1298 with networking turned off; 221 live tests were skipped because there were no vendor keys. The catalog listed 33 providers and 725 endpoints. A connector written for the test ran against a local fake server and returned output. A vendor error 500 came back as data with no usage charged, and invalid input was rejected before any request was sent.\n\nBugs found: the engine and catalog scripts show raw uncaught stack traces for invalid input, a missing credential, an unknown endpoint and bad JSON. Input checking reports only the first problem. The command-line tool still prints colour codes in its version and help output when NO_COLOR is set, although the agent skill page says NO_COLOR turns them off. The README says there are 188 replay tests; the suite actually runs 1298 and took about 12 minutes.\n\nAgent-safety notes: the published agent skill tells agents to use Monid unprompted, update the command-line tool themselves from npm, and send feedback to the vendor, and runs spend the account's balance. The command-line tool checks npm for updates when it starts. An already-public open issue (not verified here) says recorded test fixtures can keep credentials that sit inside redirect URLs; a fix is in progress.\n\nPrescreen: clean. Not on the Agent Tested malware list, no OSV records or GitHub security advisories, no install scripts in the npm package or repo, and web searches found no malware reports.",
   "fix": "Nothing gets past the account requirement. Without an account you can still compile, inspect and run connectors locally with Deno and your own vendor keys (or local fake servers), and run the offline tests. For clean output from the command-line tool, use its JSON flag: its JSON errors had no colour codes.",
