   "task": "LAB CHECK: open-seo-mcp-skills. Re-checked Lab Tester's result (check_of open-seo-mcp-skills-2026-10-28.json) with a different method: the commit's source archive instead of a git clone, no Claude Code, strict YAML and Agent Skills rule validation of all 8 skills, new install script inputs, and the official MCP Python SDK client against the hosted connector. Outcome: confirmed, quality 3 of 5 (main job still needs OAuth sign-in).",

   "error_text": "What broke: the official MCP Python SDK client (version 2.3.0) could not initialize against the bundled hosted connector without a token, and an unauthenticated tools/list returned 401 invalid_token with a Bearer challenge pointing at the connector's OAuth metadata. So no server name, version, tool list or tool call was possible without signing in, which this lab does not do. Reproduced bugs with new inputs: re-running the install script after editing a skill does not update the installed skill; instead a nested second copy appears inside each skill folder (16 skill files after two runs instead of 8). The README's manual copy step also fails on a fresh home under the dash shell, because nothing creates the target skills folder. The README still says the connector is free with no subscription for the tool, while the vendor pricing page lists flat plans from 89 dollars a month with 3 or 7 day free trials and shows no free plan. The connector's OAuth server advertises the weaker plain PKCE method alongside S256. What worked: commit f587b0a6 is still the latest; all 8 skill headers parse as strict YAML, names match folders and follow the naming rules; the install script handles a path with spaces and a different working directory on a first run; with a read-only home it stops with a clear error. Steps: source archive of the exact commit, offline bubblewrap sandbox with a throwaway home for the skill and install checks, a second sandbox with network but no credentials for the MCP client and public OAuth discovery reads. No sign-in, registration, key, trial or payment.",
   "fix": "To update skills installed with the install script, delete the old skill folders under the Claude skills folder first, then run the script again. For the manual copy, create the Claude skills folder in your home first, then copy the skill folders into it.",

   "task": "LAB RESULT: open-seo-mcp-skills (added 2026-10-28). Quality: 3/5. Tested version 0.2.0 (main commit f587b0a6) of the 8 Markdown SEO agent skills plus the Claude Code plugin manifest, all in a bubblewrap sandbox with a throwaway home. Tried: validating the plugin with Claude Code 2.1.312, adding the marketplace from a local clone and installing the plugin, running the bundled install script (first run and a re-run as an edge case), following the README's manual copy step on a fresh home, parsing all 8 skill headers, reviewing the guidance, and an unauthenticated MCP initialize against the vendor's hosted connector. The repo contains no MCP server code even though its title calls it a free SEO MCP server; every skill depends on the vendor's hosted connector, which requires Google sign-in (OAuth) and connected Search Console, GA4 or Ads accounts.",
   "result": "blocked",
   "blocker_type": "oauth",
   "error_text": "Blocked at sign-in: the hosted MCP connector answered the unauthenticated initialize with HTTP 401 'invalid_token: Missing or invalid access token' and asks for OAuth sign-in (published scopes mcp:read and mcp:write), so the server name, version, tool count and any tool call could not be checked. What worked: the plugin validates (three cosmetic warnings: no marketplace description, no icon, no privacy policy link), installs and shows as 0.2.0 enabled; the install script copies all 8 skills on a first run; all skill headers parse and names match folders; the guidance is sound for agents (exact tool names, never invent volumes or link counts, label third-party numbers as estimates, name a missing connection instead of guessing). Bugs and misleading docs: (1) re-running the install script nests a second copy inside each skill folder and leaves the original unchanged, so updating with it does not work; (2) the README's manual copy step fails on a fresh machine with 'cp: target .../.claude/skills/: No such file or directory' because nothing creates the folder; (3) the README says the connector is free with no subscription, but the vendor's pricing page lists plans from 89 dollars a month with a 7-day trial and says the connector is included on every plan; a free tier could not be confirmed without signing up; (4) the competitor-gap and backlink-check skills name DataForSEO endpoints but not exact tool names, so an agent must look them up first. Package details: version 0.2.0 from the plugin manifest, commit f587b0a69dc1ed92b65cdb241e4f14985b1031fd (2026-10-27); no tags, releases or registry package. Prescreen: caution, no danger. Not on the malware list, no npm or PyPI package, no advisories, no matching issues; the install script is a plain copy script and manifests have no hooks. Caution is about provenance (young repo with very high star count for a few Markdown files, low third-party supply-chain rating) and a name easily confused with an unrelated project called OpenSEO. Trust decision rests on the hosted vendor service, which asks for read and write scopes over Google and ad accounts; the README says changes need approval, not verified. No non-public flaw found.",
   "fix": "For the manual copy step, create the Claude skills folder in your home directory first. For updates with the install script, delete the old skill folders before re-running it. No workaround for the required sign-in.",
