   "task": "LAB CHECK: pixelfx. Independent check of Lab Tester's result (check_of pixelfx-2026-11-03.json) on the same commit in a fresh offline sandbox: exported the whole library as sprite sheets and verified them with a separate Python image decoder, drove effects through the library API in a hand-written game loop with jittered frame times, ran a chained move, tried new bad options, checked CLI exit codes, MP4 output and the gallery server's listening address. Outcome: confirmed, quality 3/5 (partial, bug).",
   "result": "partial",
   "blocker_type": "bug",
   "error_text": "What works: On the same commit (still the head of main), the whole-library export that the original test skipped ran clean: the sheets tool wrote 244 PNG sheets plus JSON and an index in about 4 minutes (186 MB). For every effect the JSON frame count matched the index, every image size matched columns times frame size, every sheet was RGBA and none was empty. MP4 export through ffmpeg worked (H.264, 30 fps, 180 frames for the torch). Driving frost-nova through the library API in a hand-written game loop at 200x120 gave the same 3.42 s duration with jittered frame times (1/144 to 1/20 s) as at a fixed 60 fps, so timing is frame-rate independent; a palette swap and flip worked; an effect placed far off screen drew nothing and still finished. A move from the moves folder (arrow-shot) played to completion through the normal effect API and passed the checker. Numeric seeds 1 and 2 gave different, repeatable output. act.mjs baked a 49-step sheet. A new looping draft from new.mjs passed check clean. Unknown ids are reported in words.\n\nWhat broke: Confirmed the premultiplied sprite-sheet colors on the whole library, checked with an independent Python decoder: 243 of 244 sheets have semi-transparent pixels, and in all 252.6 million of them no color channel exceeds alpha, which is the signature of premultiplied color stored in a straight-alpha PNG (public issue 4). Confirmed that bad input is silently accepted with exit code 0: an unknown effect id in render.mjs and an unknown category in sheets.mjs both print 'no effect matches' and exit 0 (sheets.mjs also prints '0 sheets'). New: non-numeric or fractional seeds (strings, NaN, 1.5) are silently treated as seed 1, so different string seeds give identical output; an empty palette crashes with a raw TypeError; a negative size is ignored without warning; update(0) never ends a one-shot (expected, but undocumented). Confirmed the fresh one-shot template from new.mjs warns about 3 px drawn outside its 48x48 canvas, and check.mjs still exits 0 with the warning. Confirmed the gallery server binds all interfaces (IPv6 any address) while printing a localhost URL. Not tested: the skill in a real Claude Code session, the browser gallery UI, importing sheets into Godot, Unity or Phaser.\n\nSteps: Fresh source archive at the same commit (archive checksum recorded), fresh bubblewrap sandbox with network unshared (confirmed a fetch failed), cleared environment and throwaway HOME. Instead of the original's skill walkthrough, ran the whole-library sheets export, then verified every sheet and JSON with an independent Python image decoder rather than Node. Drove effects through the library API in a hand-written game loop with jittered frame times, off-screen positions, palette swaps, a chained move, and bad options (empty palette, negative size, string and fractional seeds, infinite light, zero dt). Checked CLI exit codes directly, MP4 output with ffprobe, a looping and a one-shot new.mjs draft, and the gallery server's listening socket from inside the sandbox. All processes stopped and scratch folders deleted.",
   "fix": "Until issue 4 is fixed, un-premultiply sheet colors before importing (divide color by alpha) or play effects through the library API with a background. Check for 'no effect matches' in output rather than trusting the exit code, and pass numeric seeds only. Run the gallery server only on a trusted network.",

   "task": "LAB RESULT: pixelfx 2026-11-01. Tested pixelfx 0.3.0 (pixel art effects library with a bundled agent skill) from source at git main, in a network-off sandbox with a throwaway home folder. Followed the skill's own workflow as an agent would: searched effects with the list tool, rendered fire/torch, recolored it with a custom blue palette and made a GIF, exported ice/frost-nova as a sprite sheet with JSON, baked an acted melee/sword-slash sheet, ran the checker on all 244 effects, and drafted a new effect. Composited three effects onto a generated 320x180 test background through the library API, compared seeds, decoded the exported sheet to compare pixels, and tried bad inputs on the CLI and API.",

   "error_text": "Version: pixelfx 0.3.0 (package.json), commit a84159688af3ca37a4be05a0d422b94451b2e24e, Node 24.22.1. No npm package exists; no dependencies needed.\n\nWhat worked: list found 11 frost effects; torch contact sheet (60 frames) looks right; blue palette recolor and GIF via ffmpeg worked; frost-nova sheet (103 frames, 9 columns) with Aseprite-style JSON including fps, pivot and act timing; acted sword-slash sheet (49 frames); compositing onto a generated background changed 17,763 pixels; same seed gave byte-identical output, different seed differed; checker passed 244/244 (about 2m50s); the new-effect tool refuses to overwrite and rejects names with path parts.\n\nWhat broke:\n1. Sprite sheet PNG colors are premultiplied while alpha is straight: for torch frame 0 all 6,740 semi-transparent bright pixels equal rgb*alpha, none equal the source. Glows import dark in engines. Same as public issue #4.\n2. Silent acceptance of bad input: invalid palette hex '#zzz' renders a black flame and exits 0; fps 'abc' writes an empty contact sheet titled 'NaN frames' and exits 0; an unknown effect id prints 'no effect matches fire/nosuch' but exits 0; negative dt runs time backwards (t=-5); NaN positions and unknown options are accepted.\n3. Raw crashes instead of clear errors: a string palette throws 'TypeError: r.map is not a function' with a stack trace; malformed opts JSON throws a raw SyntaxError stack.\n4. The fresh template from the new-effect tool fails its own checker with a warning: '3 px drawn outside the 48x48 canvas'.\n5. The gallery server listens on all network interfaces although it prints a localhost address (path traversal outside the repo was blocked).\n\nNot tested: the skill inside a real Claude Code session, the browser gallery, importing sheets into Godot/Unity/Phaser, whole-library sheet export.\n\nPrescreen clean: not on the Agent Tested malware list, no OSV or GitHub advisories, no matching issues for malware, theft, tokens, exfiltration, backdoors or miners, no install scripts, zero runtime dependencies. Quality 3 (real bugs).",
   "fix": "Premultiply bug: divide RGB by the output alpha when pasting frames into the sheet, or re-export frames with the standalone transparent render. Validate palette and fps before rendering and exit non-zero when no effect matches. Bind the gallery server to localhost only if it should not be visible on the network.",
