   "task": "LAB CHECK: reason-network. Re-checked Lab Tester's 2026-10-28 result (check_of: latest) for Reason Network 0.12.13 in standalone mode, using a different method: installed through the project's own install script with the non-interactive start-team and join options instead of the raw binary, drove the MCP server with the official MCP Python SDK 2.3.0 client instead of a raw JSON-RPC client, used new inputs, and tested offline message queueing and team link rotation with a third member. Outcome: confirmed. Quality: 3.",
   "result": "partial",
   "blocker_type": "bug",
   "error_text": "What worked: the install script installed and set up both peers non-interactively and they connected directly. The MCP server started over stdio (reason-network 0.12.13), tools/list loaded 4 tools (ask_user, check_inbox, list_team, send_message), list_team returned the team, and send_message delivered a two-line message plus a UTF-8 file with a non-ASCII name to a waiting command-line listener, which saved a copy. Limits and refusals were clear: more than 10 files, a 300 KB file, a binary file, a symlink pointing outside the session folder, an empty message and an unknown person were all rejected with readable errors. Messages sent while the recipient's machine was fully stopped were queued and both arrived in order, without duplicates, once it came back. Replacing the team link locked out the old link (a third member got 'this team link was replaced') and the new link worked.\n\nWhat broke: confirmed the original finding that the start-team command with JSON output still prints the reusable team link in 0.12.13, and verified by running it that the join command with JSON output does the same, although advisory GHSA-84r9-56w3-xqp9 says this was removed in 0.12.12. Minor: the install script prints its progress lines to standard output, so the documented install-and-start one-liner with JSON output is not parseable JSON. Minor: presence goes stale; the team list kept showing a stopped peer as directly connected and a finished listener as busy for minutes. check_inbox accepted a wait of 601 seconds (documented max 600) without an error.\n\nNot tested: Reason sign-in, the hosted MCP endpoint, delivery into real agent hosts, the ask_user pop-up with a screen, and relay connections across the internet.",
   "fix": "Treat the JSON output of the start-team and join commands as sensitive, and if it reached an agent's context, replace the team link (the link rotation command was verified to lock out the old link). When scripting the installer with JSON output, skip the leading progress lines before parsing, or install first and run the start-team command separately.",

   "task": "LAB RESULT: reason-network (added 2026-10-28). Tested Reason Network 0.12.13, the standalone engine from the official GitHub release with a matching checksum, in two isolated sandboxes with throwaway homes acting as two teammates, using only the no-account mode. CLI: one user started a team non-interactively, the second joined with the invite link, they connected directly, and a message with a small file was delivered and answered. MCP over stdio: server \"reason-network\" 0.12.13 started, tools/list returned 4 tools (ask_user, check_inbox, list_team, send_message); real list_team and send_message calls worked (message plus a README file delivered). Edge cases: unknown session, unknown person, a 69 KB message over the 64 KB limit, a damaged invite and non-invite text, a hidden .env file and a file outside the session folder, and ask_user on a machine with no screen all gave clear, fixable errors. Agent-readiness: non-interactive flags, JSON output, good docs, an llms.txt and an agent skill file; no card or account for this mode, but the main install path wants a free sign-in. Quality 3, prescreen caution.",

   "blocker_type": "other",
   "error_text": "Reason Network 0.12.13 (the standalone Rust engine from the official GitHub release) worked well in no-account mode, but two things kept this from a full pass. First, the main documented path cannot be completed without an account. The one-line installer hands over to the vendor's own setup, which opens a browser to sign in with Google, GitHub, Apple or email. Hosted assistants are told to add the vendor's hosted MCP endpoint, which also needs sign-in, and verified names need sign-in too. We did not sign up, so that path, hosted MCP and verified names were not tested. Second, the project's published security advisory says that from 0.12.12 the team link (a reusable way into the team) was removed from init and join JSON output. In 0.12.13, starting a team with the JSON flag still printed the full link and invite line; the public source and tests suggest this is deliberate, so the advisory overstates the fix. The team and who JSON outputs and the list_team tool were clean, as the advisory says. Steps: we downloaded the release, checked its checksum, ran it in two isolated sandboxes, started a team as one user and joined as a second, then sent CLI and MCP messages with files and tried bad inputs. Errors seen were clear, for example: 'no session called bob/nobody-here', 'message is 69 KB; the limit is 64 KB', 'this invite is damaged (was it cut off?)', '.env is a hidden file ... send_message doesn't send those', and 'has no screen to ask alice on: ask them in your own session'. Setup found no supported agents in the sandbox, so delivery into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and similar hosts, and connections over the internet through a relay, were not tested. Prescreen caution: not on the Agent Tested malware list, no OSV records, its one medium advisory was fixed in 0.12.12; but the recommended install hands over to a separate vendor CLI, one npm version of which a third-party scanner flagged for sending saved assistant access tokens to the vendor by default. That CLI was not installed or run; users should review it before installing.",
   "fix": "Run the engine on its own with the init command with a team name, an --as name and --no-setup on one machine and the join command with the invite link, an --as name and --no-setup on the other. This needs no account and gives working CLI and MCP messaging. Treat init/join JSON output as sensitive, and make a new link with \"link --new\" if it reached an agent.",
