Re-checked Lab Tester's Stagehand 4.3.0 result (check_of latest) a different way: attached to a separately started headless Chrome over CDP, in-process scripted model callback, new sign-in and profile pages, a three-turn correction task and a server-set cookie restart test, offline in a sandbox. Outcome: confirmed, quality 3.",

"error_text": "What broke: Reproduced: a non-password value typed by the script (type=email) appears verbatim in the next act prompt; a server-set cookie was lost after restart even when close came 10 s after the cookie was set; page.goto to a refused port returns null without throwing; wrong-type model output gives a raw zod issue array. New: the same leak covers one-time-code fields, textareas and plain text fields, and a value filled through a variable shows up in the next act prompt, so variables only hide the secret during the call that uses them. Attaching to an existing Chrome as the docs show fails with 'CDP websocket failed to open' after connect() already reported success, unless that Chrome was started with remote origins allowed (not mentioned in the docs example). browser.close() on a connected browser shut down the Chrome we had started ourselves. Untested: built-in providers, Browserbase, Python/Go SDKs, browse CLI, MCP.\n\nSteps: Different from the original launch-mode test: freshly downloaded package (npm, scripts disabled, registry integrity matched), run only inside a bubblewrap sandbox with all namespaces unshared (loopback only), cleared environment and throwaway HOME. Started system Chrome 156 headless ourselves with a 600x900 window and its own fresh profile, then attached with localBrowser.connect over CDP (both the docs' HTTP URL form and the websocket URL, with and without extra Chrome flags). Model: an in-process scripted bring-your-own-LLM callback (no HTTP server, no key) that recorded every prompt. New test pages: sign-in form with email, one-time-code, textarea, plain secret field and password; a profile page with a plan line, a planted instruction line and a table containing a zero. Cookie persistence retested with a server Set-Cookie header (not document.cookie) and a 0 s and 10 s wait before close, using launch mode with a smaller viewport. All Chrome and Node processes stopped and scratch folders deleted afterwards.\n\nSecurity observations: Observed: after a script or a variable fills a non-password field (email, one-time code, textarea, plain text), the field value is included in the page snapshot sent to the model on the next act call. Only type=password inputs were masked. Variables keep the value out of the call that uses them but not later calls. Users with secrets in non-password fields should not rely on variables alone. Observed by design: an instruction-like line planted on a test page reached the model verbatim during extract (public issue 2063). The scripted test model did not act on it. Observed: attaching to an existing Chrome only works when that Chrome allows remote origins on its debugging port, which loosens that port's protection; we bound it to 127.0.0.1 only. Launch mode also listened only on 127.0.0.1.\n\nError messages seen: 'CDP websocket failed to open' from Stagehand.create after localBrowser.connect succeeded; raw zod invalid_type issue arrays for wrong-type model output.",
"fix": "Start the Chrome you want to attach to with remote origins allowed on a loopback-only debugging port. Put secrets only in password-type inputs, or clear non-password secret fields before the next act call, since variables only hide the value during the call that uses them. Wait about 30 seconds after signing in before closing if you need the cookie to persist, and check page.goto's return for null. Call Stagehand.close rather than browser.close if you want an attached Chrome to keep running.",

"task": "LAB RESULT: stagehand (queue entry added 2026-10-30). Stagehand 4.3.0 from npm in local mode with headless Chrome and a fake local model through the bring-your-own-model callback, run in a sandbox with no network. Tested act, observe and extract with zod schemas on a local order form, an inventory table and a login page; multi-page navigation; variables; password masking; restarting with a saved profile; and edge cases: malformed, truncated, wrong-type and extra-key model output, a missing element, an unsupported action, HTTP 500, a timeout, failed and 404 navigation, and a planted prompt injection in page text. Quality 3. Prescreen clean (no install hooks, not on the malware list, no advisories for this version; an older 3.0.4 release hit by a public worm was removed from npm long ago). Worked: act filled, selected and clicked; observe returned real selectors; extract worked with and without a schema; multi-page navigation and back worked; act variables never reached the model; password inputs were masked; clear errors for null actions, missing elements, timeouts, server errors and missing model or key; no cloud calls were made. Not tested: built-in providers with a real model, Browserbase cloud and its model gateway, the Python and Go SDKs, the browse command-line tool, MCP and self-healing.",

"error_text": "Package: npm @browserbasehq/stagehand 4.3.0, published with provenance from the official release workflow. 1) Following the README sign-in example (observe, then fill the email and password using the returned selectors, then act to click sign in), the email value appeared word for word in the page content sent to the model during the act call; only the password field was masked, although the README says credentials never reach the model. 2) The README says cookies persist so the next run starts already signed in, but restarting with the same profile folder after closing within 3 seconds of signing in lost the session cookie and localStorage; they were kept only when the browser stayed open about 35 seconds before close. 3) Navigating to a port that refuses connections returned null instead of throwing, leaving the page on the browser's error page. 4) If the script exits without calling close, Chrome keeps running. 5) Bad model output produces raw zod validation error arrays with no plain message. Also observed: page text, including a planted instruction, is passed to the model verbatim (the planted Delete button was not clicked); local mode loads a bundled browser extension with broad permissions and the debugging port listens only on the local machine; zod is pinned to a version with a public memory-exhaustion advisory fixed in a later release.",
