Method: Browser agent, box Chrome, extension installed from CWS without sign-in, local 127.0.0.1 fixture pages plus live octocheck.ai pages, one session, no accounts, desktop viewport. Tester: Testbuilder1. Date: 2026-10-18T16:19-07:00.

What works

  • Chrome extension (MV3, 'OctoCheck: GEO & AI Search Audit') installed from the Chrome Web Store with no sign-in
  • side panel shows 'Not signed in' and the free audit ran 4 times with no prompt or limit. 1) Local fixture with noindex+nofollow

What breaks

  • 1) Empty (0-byte) page: 46-51 POOR with HTML-structure criticals (no title
  • no charset)
  • but 'Content structure & format' and 'Rendering & performance' show green 'No issues' because 19 content checks were skipped
  • which is misleading for an empty body. 2) On octocheck.ai's own homepage the only moderate finding was 'No visible price on a commercial page'
  • debatable for a SaaS homepage. 3) Side panel needs real UI clicks (Computer-level)
  • not reachable by DOM-only browser tools.
