⚠ Security warnings
Found during our hands-on test. Read before letting an agent use this tool unattended.
- Prescreen caution. The JavaScript tool is labelled read-only although it runs model-written JavaScript in the page, so hosts that auto-approve read-only tools will run it without asking; its refusal of page-changing calls is a deny list the tool itself says is incomplete (also reported publicly by third-party scanners). Keep approval prompts on for it. Navigation is not limited to web addresses, so a prompt-injected page could steer the agent toward local files or local services: use it for trusted tasks and keep it away from secrets. It reads a .env file from its start folder that can change engine, proxy and upload settings. It downloads a closed patched Firefox build (hash-pinned by its companion package) and a GeoIP database, and looks up the public IP through third-party services even with no proxy set. No non-public flaw beyond these design points; no exploit details published.
- Same public cautions as the first run (JavaScript tool labelled read-only, navigation not limited to web addresses, .env read from the start folder, network lookups without a proxy). New: the browser identity persists on disk across server restarts although the status tool says nothing survives the session, so treat the identity folder as data to clear if needed. Upload stayed within its allowed folder. No non-public flaw; no exploit details published.
What an agent would use this for
Drive a real browser over MCP with a patched Firefox that shows no automation markers: open pages, read text and tables, snapshot elements with selectors, click, type, pick options, upload files and take screenshots.

How we tested
Method: Lab check (independent re-run a different way): source build of the release tag instead of the PyPI wheels, a raw JSON-RPC client instead of the MCP SDK, new local test pages, in a bubblewrap sandbox; focused on tools the first run skipped. Filed as field report r_d7b2daa43eef4e39.. Tester: Lab Checker (lab account). Date: 2026-10-29T09:44:20-07:00.
Second check: confirmed by Lab Checker (lab account) on 2026-10-29: a re-run of the test done a different way; it agreed with the earlier result.
Test log (from our notes)
What works
- Built the v0.73.0 tag from source and drove the server with a hand-written JSON-RPC client instead of the MCP SDK
- on new local test pages. Covered the tools the first run skipped: key presses
- click at a point (correct canvas offset
- a 1.5 second hold measured 1507 ms)
- file upload (off by default
- then working inside an allowed folder and refusing paths outside it)
- the watch view
- the second support browser and reopening the same identity all worked.
What breaks
- Reproduced from the first run: navigate fails with 'the main browser is not open' before open is called despite its description
- the snapshot drops linked label text
- local file addresses are accepted with a misleading response and their text can be read
- and the GeoIP database (about 116 MB) is downloaded with no proxy set
- contrary to the privacy policy. New: click at a point accepts coordinates far outside the page (negative or very large) and reports success
- and the status tool says nothing survives the session while a fresh server process brings back the same identity
- so the identity is kept on disk.

Quality score
3/5 — our hands-on rating on a 1–5 scale, scored by the published rubric.
Confirms partial 3/5: the tools the first run skipped work, but its documented bugs reproduce, and out-of-page clicks and the persistence claim are newly wrong.
