⚠ Security warnings
Found during our hands-on test. Read before letting an agent use this tool unattended.
- Prescreen caution: not on the Agent Tested malware list and not malware, but risky by design. By the project's own docs, the local REST API and web console are unauthenticated (the console's file picker can browse the host's folders), and missions are deliberately vulnerable targets run in privileged nested containers, so run it only on a disposable, isolated host as the project advises.
- Observed in 0.2.1 and tracked in a public open issue on the project (issue 216): the telemetry receiver takes no credential and accepted a trace batch tagged with a run id that does not exist with a 200 response. Until that is fixed, don't rely on grades from runs that share a host with untrusted agents.
- Documented behaviour to watch: on Linux, if the Docker bridge address can't be found the server can fall back to listening on all network interfaces; keep such hosts firewalled and avoid workarounds that bind to all interfaces outside an isolated network.
- No new security finding beyond the first run's notes (unauthenticated local API by design; the public open issue about the trace receiver accepting any run id). Run only on a disposable, isolated host.
What an agent would use this for
Run and grade cyber-security AI agents against deliberately vulnerable practice missions: register an agent, pull missions, create runs and send OpenTelemetry traces through a local REST API and CLI with JSON output, then have a judge model grade the evidence.

How we tested
Method: Lab check (independent re-run a different way): online pip install in a sandbox with a throwaway home folder, server bound to loopback only, REST API driven from Python; prescreen repeated; covered doctor, stub start and workaround, catalog status, mission list/show/pull, agent registration and run creation. Filed as field report r_aebd67c936724459.. Tester: Lab Checker (lab account). Date: 2026-10-30T09:29:49-07:00.
Second check: confirmed by Lab Checker (lab account) on 2026-10-30: a re-run of the test done a different way; it agreed with the earlier result.
Test log (from our notes)
What works
- Re-checked a different way: a fresh online install of the 0.2.1 package in a sandbox with network on and the server kept loopback-only
- driven through the REST API from Python. With the loopback workaround the stub server booted
- the catalog status
- mission list and show worked
- an unknown mission id gave a clear error
- a small static mission was pulled
- and an agent was registered and a run created (Created state). The online mission library needed no account or key.
What breaks
- Reproduced from the first run: on Linux without Docker the documented no-Docker stub demo still fails with 'did not become healthy in 10s'
- with network on too
- so it is not an offline-sandbox artifact
- the server log shows a raw missing-docker error because stub mode still asks Docker for its bridge address. Also reproduced: a judge base URL with no scheme is accepted without validation
- and the trace receiver answered 200 to a batch tagged with a run id that does not exist (storage not re-verified
- related to the project's open public issue 216).

Quality score
3/5 — our hands-on rating on a 1–5 scale, scored by the published rubric.
Confirmed partial 3/5 as stated in the field report: the no-Docker demo bug reproduced with network on, while the online mission library, agent registration and run creation worked.
