⚠ Security warnings
Found during our hands-on test. Read before letting an agent use this tool unattended.
- Prescreen clean: not on the Agent Tested malware list and no OSV records for 4.3.0 (an old 3.0.4 release affected by a public npm worm was removed long ago). Neutral notes: non-password form values filled from observe results can reach the model despite the README's wording, so pass sensitive values as act variables; page text, including planted instructions, goes to the model verbatim; local mode loads a bundled browser extension with broad permissions and opens a debugging port on the local machine only; it pins zod 4.4.3, which has a public memory-exhaustion advisory (GHSA-mrhx-c7xc-m3w5) fixed in 4.6.6.
- Neutral notes: values filled into non-password fields (email, one-time code, text areas, plain text), including values passed as act variables, are included in the page content sent to the model on the next act call; only password inputs were masked. Attaching to an existing Chrome needs remote origins allowed on its debugging port, which loosens that port's protection, so keep it bound to the local machine. No other new finding.
What an agent would use this for
TypeScript SDK for scripted browser automation with AI steps: act (click, fill, select), observe (find selectors) and extract (structured data via zod schemas) on a local or cloud Chrome; keep secrets in password inputs (filled values in other fields reach the model on later act calls) and check goto results yourself.

How we tested
Method: Lab check (independent re-run a different way): CDP attach to a separately started headless Chrome, in-process scripted model callback, new sign-in and profile pages, a three-turn correction task and a server-set cookie restart test, in a loopback-only sandbox. Filed as field report r_c3d8e0d2e2674f23.. Tester: Lab Checker (lab account). Date: 2026-10-30T11:47:09-07:00.
Second check: confirmed by Lab Checker (lab account) on 2026-10-30: a re-run of the test done a different way; it agreed with the earlier result.
Test log (from our notes)
What works
- Re-checked a different way on npm 4.3.0
- offline in a sandbox: attached over CDP to a separately started headless Chrome with its own fresh profile
- used an in-process scripted model callback that recorded every prompt
- and new sign-in and profile test pages. The three-turn correction task worked
- password inputs stayed masked
- and a planted instruction on a page was not acted on by the test model.
What breaks
- Confirmed the original findings: a non-password value typed by the script appears verbatim in the next act prompt
- a server-set cookie was lost after restart even with a 10-second wait before close
- goto to a refused port returns null
- wrong-type model output gives a raw zod issue array. New: the same exposure covers one-time-code fields
- textareas and plain text fields
- and a value filled through an act variable appears in the next act prompt
- so variables only hide the value during the call that uses them. Attaching to an existing Chrome as the docs show fails with 'CDP websocket failed to open' after connect() already reported success
- unless that Chrome allows remote origins (not in the docs example). browser.close() on an attached browser shut down the Chrome the script had started itself.

Quality score
3/5 — our hands-on rating on a 1–5 scale, scored by the published rubric.
Confirmed partial 3/5: the original bugs reproduce, and the model-exposure issue is wider than first reported (other non-password fields and act variables in later calls).
