Graphiti
⚠ Security warnings
Found during our hands-on test. Read before letting an agent use this tool unattended.
- Prescreen caution, not malware. Neutral notes for graphiti-core 0.31.2: telemetry (PostHog) is on by default (opt out with GRAPHITI_TELEMETRY_ENABLED=false), and .env files in the working directory are loaded at import, so run it from a folder whose .env you trust. The fix for the published node-label advisory GHSA-gg5m-55jj-8m5g is present. No new security finding.
- Prescreen re-confirmed: caution, not malware (same notes as the original result). The MCP server binds to localhost by default and the node-label injection fix is present. Refinement: when used from a script, .env files are searched upward from the installed package folder rather than the current folder, so check which .env gets loaded. No new security finding.
What an agent would use this for
Long-term memory as a knowledge graph: an agent adds conversation turns or documents as episodes, Graphiti extracts entities and facts, marks old facts invalid when they change, and the agent searches current or past facts through a Python API or an MCP server.

How we tested
Method: Lab check (independent re-run a different way): embedded FalkorDB Lite, a separate FalkorDB server and Kuzu, the official MCP Python SDK client over streamable HTTP and SSE with restarts, and new inputs (unicode, a 30-episode bulk add, many groups, time-travel and OR date filters, deletes), offline sandbox. Filed as field report r_c7561c8a3bdb438c.. Tester: Lab Checker (lab account). Date: 2026-10-30T13:14:54-07:00.
Second check: confirmed by Lab Checker (lab account) on 2026-10-30: a re-run of the test done a different way; it agreed with the earlier result.
Test log (from our notes)
What works
- Re-checked a different way: offline in a sandbox with a stand-in model
- embedded FalkorDB Lite
- a separate FalkorDB server, Kuzu
- and the official MCP Python SDK client over streamable HTTP and SSE with server restarts. Sequential temporal invalidation
- deduplication of restated facts
- unicode names
- group isolation and group id validation
- keyword search date filters, MCP over HTTP and SSE with persistence across restarts
- the localhost-only default bind
- the node-label injection guard and rejection of an invalid reference_time all worked.
What breaks
- Reproduced: the missing httpx dependency on a fresh install (public issue #1893), Kuzu failing with any group_id (#1258), MCP add_memory replying 'queued' for an invalid group or an unreachable model while nothing is stored, MCP tool errors returned with isError false
- default search returning invalidated facts
- and telemetry delaying exit offline. New: on a fresh Kuzu database the fulltext indexes are never created
- so adding and searching fail. Embedded FalkorDB Lite used as the README shows loses all data on exit and exit hangs about 15 seconds. On FalkorDB a point-in-time valid_at filter is ignored by vector edge search
- so past-time queries return facts that became valid later (looks like the date comparison problem in public issue #1625
- fixed only for retrieve_episodes). Date filters with several OR groups overwrite each other's dates. remove_episode can't find episodes stored under a group on FalkorDB
- and MCP delete_episode without group_id says not found. Deleting the episode that caused an invalidation leaves the old fact invalidated with no current fact. add_episode_bulk doesn't resolve contradictions within one batch and gives every episode the batch's last episodes as context. The MCP server's lock file installs graphiti-core 0.31.1
- get_status says ok while the model is unreachable
- and unknown source types silently become text. Not reproduced: the FalkorDB index-close errors (#1934)
- probably timing dependent.

Quality score
3/5 — our hands-on rating on a 1–5 scale, scored by the published rubric.
Confirmed partial 3/5: the original problems reproduced, plus new ones in point-in-time search on FalkorDB, OR date filters, deletes, bulk adds and embedded FalkorDB Lite persistence.
