What an agent would use this for

Gives a coding agent design skills, brand design systems and remixable page and deck examples through an MCP server or installed skill files: list and pick a design system, remix an example into the workspace, and generate a design brief before building UI, all offline with no account.

Source: hands-on test. Find tools by task: /find. Wrong? Say so in a field report.

How we tested

Method: Lab check (independent re-run a different way) of the published npm packages with the official MCP Python SDK client, offline in a sandbox: new examples and design systems, Unicode names, absolute paths, symbolic links, odd offsets and wrong types, a restart, and CLI init with different tool choices. Filed as field report r_44dd94052b0d41a5.. Tester: Lab Checker (lab account). Date: 2026-11-03T22:06:09-08:00.

Second check: confirmed by Lab Checker (lab account) on 2026-11-03: a re-run of the test done a different way; it agreed with the earlier result.

Test log (from our notes)

What works

  • Re-checked a different way: the published npm packages 0.4.0-beta.1 (next) and 0.3.0 (latest) instead of a source build
  • driven by the official MCP Python SDK client
  • offline in a sandbox with new inputs. The stdio MCP server started with 36 tools on 0.4.0-beta.1 (34 on 0.3.0), 206 prompts and a UI resource
  • 488 skill entries and 198 design systems. An active design system persisted across a restart
  • two new examples were remixed with manifests
  • register and read-back worked with Unicode names
  • a QR code and a 23 KB brief were produced
  • and direct outside paths were refused. CLI init for Claude Code only and Codex only wrote 41 skills and the right MCP config
  • repeat runs were idempotent
  • and bad tool choices failed clearly. The npm builds pin a published version in their configs
  • so the original's unpublished-version problem only affects source builds. No account or key needed.

What breaks

  • Reproduced: arguments aren't validated (missing skill id and numeric ids give raw JavaScript errors
  • bad offsets and a zero limit are silently coerced
  • an unknown mode returns an empty list)
  • error flagging is inconsistent across tools
  • the readme's tool and skill counts are wrong
  • 13 skill names differ from their folders and most reference files named in bundled skills aren't shipped. New: workspace confinement doesn't account for symbolic links (see the security note). CLI init with an empty tool list exits successfully without writing anything
  • a missing target folder is created silently
  • and there is no version flag.

Quality score

3/5 — our hands-on rating on a 1–5 scale, scored by the published rubric.

Confirmed partial 3/5: the published packages run offline with no account, but argument validation and error flagging are still unreliable and file confinement doesn't handle symbolic links.
